26 YEARS OF WATERBIRD CENSUS AT MONDEGO ESTUARY

26 YEARS OF WATERBIRD CENSUS AT MONDEGO ESTUARY

A new website launched under the scope of the World Wetlands Day (February 02) celebration made public the data collected during 26 years of waterbird census at the Mondego estuary.

Since 1994, on January, all aquatic birds wintering in the Mondego estuary are recorded. The data, now made available, is the longest non-interrupted time series about the abundance of waterbirds in a Portuguese estuary.
