CASUAL SEMINAR IN BIODIVERSITY AND EVOLUTION

 

 

Genomic data from samples that originate from different time periods (heterochronous samples) provide a unique opportunity to investigate temporal changes in genome diversity as well as to estimate genome-wide mutation rates. The aim of this presentation is to showcase how this can be done, through a comparison of heterochronous genomes from the woolly mammoth.

 

Love Dalén is an Associate Professor at the Swedish Museum of Natural History. His main research interests are focused on the use of ancient DNA data to investigate the ecology and evolution of different species. He is particularly interested in exploring the impact of past environmental change on the distribution and abundance of various animals, such a lemmings, ptarmigan and woolly mammoths.
