Public Speaking and Audience Engagement
INVITED TALK - WEBINAR IN BIODIVERSITY AND EVOLUTION

Jerry Seinfeld once quipped: "People’s number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. That means to the average person, if you have to go to a funeral, you’re better off in the casket than doing the eulogy." This talk will address the major rules of Public Speaking based on routines and steps that, when followed, allow us to be far more relaxed and typically improve the performance. Planning, preparation and practicing a performance are vital to succeed when delivering a speech. When addressing an audience, somethings are fundamental. Planning for impact, identifying the audience and adapting a speech to their interests, level of understanding, attitudes, and beliefs are significantly important to pass the message. Using some simple methods, one can make boring information and data come to life. This talk will also address body language, vocal placement and how to work with the microphone. In addition, I will give tips to deal with anxiety of public speaking.
