PREDICTION OF HUMAN GENES ASSOCIATED WITH DENGUE VIRUS INFECTION

STUDENT SEMINAR IN BIODIVERSITY AND EVOLUTION

 

 

Dengue is one the most important worldwide viral vector-borne diseases. However some relevant factors to the human body response to this infection are not fully understood. Systems Biology based on knowledge of the protein interactions provides an optimal setting for analyzing cellular processes, including those involved in the response to infectious agents. Although experimental methods provide large amounts of information for understanding the interaction networks that make up proteins in an organism or between organisms, bioinformatics methods allowed the systematic integration of this information and use to predict with high accuracy novel proteins associated with some diseases.

 

Agusto Neira-Luzuriaga, was born en Purunuma, Loja, Ecuador and studied Environmental sciences at National University of Loja. Agusto holds a master degree in Genomics Biotechnology from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico and has just started a PhD on origin and diversity of domestic species with economical interest under the supervision of Albano Beja-Pereira (AGRIGENOMICS Group).
