POPULATION STRUCTURE AND ADAPTATION IN THE EURASIAN SHAD Alosa alosa AND A. fallax

POPULATION STRUCTURE AND ADAPTATION IN THE EURASIAN SHAD Alosa alosa AND A. fallax

Alosa alosa and A. fallax are anadromous species in Eurasia that have adapted to freshwater environments in several locations throughout their ranges. I will discuss our ongoing work on population structure in A. alosa and A. fallax and the effects of hybridization between the two species. In addition, I will outline our work on the genetics of their adaptations to freshwater environments.

Stephen Sabatino is post-doctoral researcher at CIBIO-InBIO. Stephen’s research focuses on understanding the genetics of ecological adaptation in anadromous species under the advisement of Paulo Alexandrino (AGE Group).
