Dr. Ana Catarina Sousa will present a seminar entitled "Milk, butter, cheese and sieves in the first peasant societies of the Iberian Peninsula: theoretical models, archaeological evidence and a case study" on 27th of April, at 14.30, in Campus Agrário de Vairão auditorium.

 

Dr. Ana Catarina Sousa is a Professor at Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon (2007-2012), researcher at Centro de Arqueologia da Universidade de Lisboa (1994-2011), archaeologist at Mafra municipality (1997-2011) and deputy director of the Instituto de Gestão do Património Arquitectónico e Arqueológico (2011-2012). She has a graduation in History with a specialization in Archaeology (1989-93); Master in Pre-history and Archaeology (1997); and has recently obtained her Phd degree on the theme: Penedo do Lexim in Late Neolithic and Chalcolithic in Lisbon Peninsula (2010). All degrees at the University of Lisbon.

Dr. Ana Catarina Sousa develops lines of research on early peasant societies, with a specialization in the study of the 3rd millennium b.c.e. She is the director of several research projects in Mafra/Sintra, Reguengos de Monsaraz and Coruche, with National and European funds; and the scientific responsible for more than 60 archaeological excavations (rescue, research and valuation) - mainly from the Mesolithic, Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Bronze Age.
She was invited by Nuno Ferrand, Jorge Rocha and Albano Beja-Pereira within the scope of a research collaboration.
