Film exhibition - The Muge dog: a prehistoric friend

This digital animation short movie reflects the happily fusion between the cinema and science. It tells the story of a dog that lived 7,600 years ago - the oldest almost complete dog skeleton recorded for the Iberian Peninsula. Its skeleton was found by archaeologists at the end of the XIX century at Muge, Portugal. More recently it was further studied with modern technologies: radiocarbon dating, isotpic analysis, genomics and computed tumography which allowed the interpretation of its life and death. This is a story of zooarchaeology. "The Muge dog- a prehistoric friend" is a scientific outreach movie that combines creativity and beauty.

Este filme de animação digital reflete a feliz fusão entre o cinema e a ciência. Conta a história de um cão com cerca de 7.600 anos. O mais antigo esqueleto quase completo de que há registo na Península Ibérica. O seu esqueleto foi encontrado por arqueólogos no final do século XIX em Muge, Portugal. Mais recentemente foi alvo de um estudo detalhado com as mais avançadas tecnologias ao dispôr: de datação por radiocarbono, de análise de isótopos, de genómica e de imagiologia, que permitiram a interpetação da sua vida e morte. Esta é uma história de zooarqueologia. " O Cão de Muge – um amigo pré-histórico” é um filme de divulgação científica que combina criatividade e beleza.
