Butterflies of Angola - Borboletas Diurnas de Angola, Lepidoptera/Papilionoidea, Vol 1. Hesperiidae-Papilionidae

On February 13, 2014, CIBIO-InBIO will host the public presentation of the book Butterflies of Angola - Borboletas Diurnas de Angola, Lepidoptera/Papilionoidea, Vol 1. Hesperiidae-Papilionidae.

This is the first volume of a series of three dealing with the more than 820 species of butterflies known today to occur in Angola, a country recognized by its huge biome diversity which extends from the moist evergreen forest to the desert. After a synthetic general introduction on the lepidopterans where a few morphological, ecological and taxonomic points are presented, each species of families Hesperiidae and Papilionidae is analyzed. They are characterized under their morphological point of view (including text and figures), their geographical range and known distribution in Angola are assigned and this last one map-represented, and ecological information is also provided, like the biotope they occur and the caterpillars host-plants.
