The Centre for Molecular Analysis (CTM) is an independent facility created in 2001 for:
- carrying out applied research on the evaluation and use of animal and plant genetic resources;
- providing several services to the community based on the application of genetic and molecular tools, especially concerning domesticated species and agricultural varieties.
The CTM Unit has recently been significantly strengthened on equipment level with the installation of a Next Generation Genome Sequencing platform (HiSeq 1500 and MiSeq, Illumina), which is currently the most powerful NGS platform in Portugal. This project (Capacity building at CIBIO for research using Next-Gen Sequencing) has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement No 286431.
