Ricardo Guerreiro

I graduated in Biology in the University of Porto in 2014. During my internship, I characterized the general diversity and distribution of herpetofauna observed in one expedition Southern Morocco, Mauritania and Mali, as well as the biogeographical patterns of the Tarentola genus in the area, resorting to Geographical Information Systems.
My MSc thesis will make use of tools as Geographical Information Systems and Ecological modelling to analyse the current and past distributions of several Gerbils species in the Atlantic Coast of the Sahara, and the role of this region as a corridor for Biodiversity. Improving the knowledge on the distribution of these poorly studied species will allow posing further hypothesis, as their biogeographical events in history and differential genetic diversity along space.
