I graduated in Ecology and Conservation Biology in the University of Lisbon. I've collaborated in projects concerning mainly the ecology of birds, reptiles and amphibians. I'm particularly interested in island biogeography and amphibians as a model to undertake conservation biogeographic approaches.

I am currently undertaking a Msc in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution at CIBIO-UP, and my thesis will focus on biogeography of amphibians from Mauritanian mountains under the title of “Conservation Biogeography of Amphibians in West Africa: an application of DNA Barcoding and GIS for the identification of cryptic diversity and conservation units”. We will analyse phylogenetic relationships and cryptic diversity of Mauritanian amphibians, define Evolutionary Significant Units (ESUs), map and model the geographic distribution of amphibian diversity and perform an integrated conservation assessment of West African amphibians using molecular and ecological data in order to identify priority humid habitats for conservation.
