My main research interests include vertebrate conservation biology and ecology in Mediterranean ecosystems. Mainly, I am interested in biodiversity conservation in anthropized landscapes, especially in ecology and habitat fragmentation of agricultural systems.
I am graduated in Biology by the University of Granada in 2007. There, I collaborated and later worked in the Animal Behaviour and Ecology Group, specifically, in breeding parasitism of great spotted cuckoo in magpie. Later, I worked at the Junta de Andalucía in aquatic bird monitoring. I undertook a Master in Conservation Biology (Complutense University of Madrid; in the course 2008-09), in which I carried out the study of conservation status of a Mediterranean endemic cyprinodontid fish, Iberian toothcarp (2007-09). This project increased my interest in conservation, particularly for the design of specific management proposals.
I had the opportunity to begin my PhD project during 2010, which focuses on the effects of young tree plantations promoted by the CAP on the bird communities, which allowed me to obtain my PhD degree at the University of Alcala (Spain) in 2013.
I joined APPLECOL Group at Biodiversity and Genetic Resources Research Centre (CIBIO-InBIO, Porto University, Portugal) in January 2014 with a research grant in the project ORLAS (PTDC/BIA-BIC/2203/2012).
