I graduated in Biology, 2010, at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, Lisboa. In 2013, I took my master degree in Biomedical Sciences by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. As a master student, I characterized multiple specific single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the opportunistic pathogen Pneumocystis jirovecii, using high-throughput methodologies, demonstrating that molecular typing could be relevant for the identification of pathogenic strains with different properties.
Currently, I am a Ph.D student interested in the development of novel specific molecular markers in the phytopathogenic bacteria Xanthomonas arboricola pv. juglandis. The main propose is to understand the aspects related with epidemiological parameters, diversity and population structure and in general evolutionary questions.
