My basic interest is reptile morphology and it's relation with ecology, performance and behaviour. My current research (PhD project) focuses on the factors – other than phylogeny – that shape the morphological patterns observed in the lizard genus Podarcis in the Iberian Peninsula. Trying to identify these factors and evaluate their relative importance in phenotypic evolution, I am applying multivariate statistics and geometric morphometric methods in order to identify small scale morphological differences between populations living in different conditions. At the same time I'm collaborating with the Natural History Museum of Crete, trying to answer similar questions in Greek Podarcis. Related interests involve phenotypic plasticity, size and shape sexual dimorphism, phylogenetic inference based on morphological characters, colour patterns and systematics.
Apart from research, I also like nature and landscape photography, although lately I don't have much time to dedicate to it. I enjoy taking long walks, discovering new places and learning things about animal and plant species I'm not working with. That's why I also like travelling and I'm trying to do it as much as possible. The rest of the time I move a lot anyhow and in the last years I found out I enjoy living in different countries, getting to know different people and speaking different languages. There are still a lot of places to visit…
