Luke L. Powell

Luke L. Powell, PhD, received his Masters at the University of Maine, where he studied ecology and conservation of the rare and declining Rusty Blackbird, and received his PhD at Louisiana State University, where he studied the effects of rainforest disturbance on birds of the Brazilian Amazon. He was a postdoc a the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center where he studied interspecific competition in migratory warblers. Since then, he has spent much time in Central Africa - Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon - studying cocoa agroforestry and the effect of forest disturbance on the native fauna.  He has been working in tropical Rainforests since 2005.
