The project ATLÂNTICO aimed at evaluating the status of biodiversity on the macaronesian archipelagos, on the basis on existing knowledge, and to facilitate a digital tool that would house the basic information and help in decision making relative to nature management and conservation. Thus, it was important to assess the state of the populations, mostly those constituting significant evolutive units. To achieve that purpose, a data base was created with two fundamental axes: one taxonomic and the other one genetic.
